LANGHORNE CREEK TOASTS AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR 2010The Langhorne Creek wine region was honoured to toast our great Australians at the 2010 50th Anniversary Australian of the Year Awards as the corporate beverage partner.
Each year since 1960 the Australian of the Year Awards has celebrated and recognised the achievements of outstanding Australians. These awards recognise the contributions of Australians who, through their hard work and determination, inspire us all to make a difference in our own communities.
Australian of the Year – Professor Patrick McGorry (Leading international researcher and clinician – youth mental health expert) Senior Australian of the Year – Maggie Beer (exceptional Cook, regional business woman, author and restaurateur) Young Australian of the Year – Trooper Mark Donaldson VC (Australian Army – courageous soldier) Australia’s Local Hero – Ronnie Khan (founder of OzHarvest – food rescuer)
450 people attended the Gala Dinner on Sunday 24th January hosted by Her Excellency Ms. Quentin Bryce AC, Governor-General and His Excellency Mr. Michael Bryce AM AE in the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra.
This celebration featured a superb array of Langhorne Creek wines: Bremerton “Wiggy” Sparkling Chardonnay 2005 Bleasdale Sparkling Shiraz Non-Vintage Bremerton Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Gipsie Jack Sangiovese Rose 2008 Brothers In Arms Shiraz 2005 Heartland Director’s Cut Shiraz 2007 Lake Breeze Moscato
